One of our highlights this week was the beginning of our Proactive Life Skills Programme. As part of our Inquiry Topic ‘Mindfulness and Self Regulation’ we have been involved in a programme called Proactive Life Skills. It is aimed at helping us develop positive life skills through healthy living and making positive choices when faced with difficult situations. We have really enjoyed working with Nigel Stupples and learning from his expertise in this area.

Quality Learning from Room 6 and Mrs Leatham

Recently in Room 6 we have enjoyed a number of successes both in and outside the classroom. For Writing this term we have been learning how to write Poetry. This has included learning about Similes and the art of making comparisons between two things by using the words ‘like’ and ‘as’. Here are some delightful examples of this work.

Red sparkles like an explosion of colours

Orange shines like hot lava

Yellow glows like a sparkling star

Green glistens like the wild wind

Blue shimmers like the deep sea

Purple twinkles like a ripe plum

Rainbows are awesome.

Red is the colour of beautiful red roses

Orange looks like the burning sun

Yellow smells like bright sunflowers

Green feels like wet grass in the morning

Blue tastes like delicious sweet blueberries

Indigo sounds like people picking flowers

Violet makes me feel relaxed

These are the cool colours of the rainbow.
