Kiwi Sport Friday Fun and Fitness.

We really look forward to getting out and enjoying our Kiwi Sport Lessons with Ata every second Friday. Fortunately, last Friday the sun appeared which meant we were able to leave the classroom and meet Ata on the netball court. We learnt two new games which were designed to up our fitness levels and add serious fun factor to our day.

As part of our Inquiry Study about Energy and Forces we have been doing our own research and experiments. We have experimented with the Forces of Friction and Gravity. We have also been learning about Potential Energy and Kinetic Energy, as part of this we have made Windmills and Catapults. One of our experiments involved sliding along the lino and then the carpet in our socks to see if there was any difference. We discovered that there was more friction on a rough surface (carpet) and less on the smoother surface (lino).  So therefore we slide further and faster on the lino compared to the carpet. 

Here we are making our Windmills and Catapults as part of our study about Forces and Energy.

Strike Percussion Concert.

Linwood North staff and children enjoyed the lively beats of the Strike Percussion Concert.
