Awesome Learning From Room 6.

Quality Learning from Room 6

Last Friday Room 6 joined the rest of Linwood North School, our whanau and other special guest to celebrate the ‘Breaking of the Ground’ ceremony. This special event gave Room 6 the opportunity to talk about what we thought the future for Linwood North School might look like in a hundred years. From these discussions we listed things that would probably change like our mode of transport, technology, housing, food and fashion. Then we thought about all the things that probably wouldn’t change like people needing shelter, food, water, family and love.  We then collaboratively wrote a poem about our hopes and wishes for the future.

Our Hopes and Wishes for the Future . . .
We want a future of happiness
Where guns and wars don’t exist
We want the baddies to change
We want a world where no one is poor, sick or hungry
We want to live in a place where earthquakes don’t happen
and we never have to worry about them ever again
We want a future where we can ‘time travel’
and no one ever has to die
A place where we can be with our families forever
Going to the beach, the park, having a good time
with our Mums and Dads
A place where we are safe and loved.

News from the Karawha Team.

News From The Karawha Team

This year the Karawha Team is made of four classes with Mrs Ann Edmundson in Room 4, Year 1 and 2, Miss Genevieve Williamson in Room 5, Year 2, Mrs Sharon Leatham in Room 6, Year 3 and Mr Nicholas Shimasaki in Room 7 which is also a Year 3 class. The Karawha tamariki are a dynamic, talented group of students who attack their learning with gusto and unrivalled enthusiasm. Our challenge has been to harness all this wonderful energy in a way that benefits our learning and in doing so we have produced some awesome samples of work. One of our highlights has been our collaborative Pepeha Art work which is presently displayed in our Learning Centre. Pop in and take a wonder through our part of the school and admire this and other examples of our learning.

Term 1  2016
Room 6 Panui
A TIME TO CELEBRATE NEW BEGINNINGS.

Room Six Whanau and I have had time to get to know each other and we have had a wonderful start to Term 1. Room 6 is part of the Karawha Team and although your child’s Home Room is Room 6, they may go to Room 7 for Literacy and Numeracy. We will also teach collaboratively during our Art and Inquiry Programmes. The Karawha Team work closely together to  ensure a strong unity and consistency among us all. A sense of whanaungatanga is an essential part of what the Karawha Team is all about.

Numeracy and Literacy Focus.
This term we are focusing on developing our Basic Facts skills and learning how to make and read graphs.
During our Writing lessons we will be developing our recount writing skills, the art of retelling a story in our own words.
Home Learning.
Your child will bring their Home Learning home on Mondays and it is due back on Fridays to be marked.
