Art: Construction  

This term the Visual Art unit has based on construction and modelling.  During this study the students  have been challenged to consider different ways to use materials to construct something different from it.  We began the series of lessons by using paper to make something creative and new  by cutting, folding, curling, rolling, tearing and tapping the paper. Some students experimented with different classroom tools eg. rulers to manipulate the material into a shape that they wanted. The following lessons build upon what we had discovered by not only using paper but by adding a paper cup, pipe cleaner and beads. Whereas the initial lesson was purely based on exploring with techniques and materials this lesson involved following a set of instruction to make a flower.
