Room 6’s Awesome Learning.

Room 6 have had an exciting and fun packed term. We have worked hard to do our best at all times and as a result we have experienced some awesome successes. We have learnt how to write a narrative and have recently completed stories that we have written collaboratively with our writing buddies. For this writing we used the Story Bird app. Now, you may think, working with a buddy would be easy however we have discovered that it’s not as easy as you might imagine.  Firstly, we had to collaboratively answer those big ‘story making questions’ like ‘what characters were going to be in our story, where was the story going to happen, what would be the Big Problem in the story and how were we going to solve the problem? All of Room 6 students have their own Story Bird user name and password, so they can use this at home much like they do for Reading Eggs and Mathletics.

We have also had some great learning experiences outside of the classroom including our Cultural Day last Friday. We enjoyed the four activities that we rotated around which included Indian, Pasifika, Maori and Brazilian. The day was highlighted by our shared lunch including a healthy hangi meal. Thank you to all the whanau that generously provided kai for our Cultural Day. We celebrated the true sense of cultural diversity by proudly coming together as a school community to acknowledge our differences, our uniqueness and the things that unite us as a community.
